Description of Business
The main businesses of the Gurunavi Group, which consists of Gurunavi, Inc. (the “Company”), three consolidated subsidiaries, one affiliated company, and one other affiliated company, are the provision of restaurant information to consumers via personal computers and smartphones, the provision of various management-related business support services for restaurants, and other related businesses. The specific businesses and business-related positions of the Company and its consolidated subsidiaries are as follows.
1. Core businesses
(1) Restaurant promotion service
Through the restaurant search site “Rakuten Gurunavi” operated on the internet, the Company provides various restaurant information and online reservation services to users.
In the restaurant promotion service, the Company provides member restaurants with the following basic functions and services: posting of restaurant information on “Rakuten Gurunavi”, “Gurunavi PRO (web console screen),” that allows restaurants to update the information themselves, the online reservation system, the “GON,” which has an access aggregation and analysis function for restaurant pages, and posting of restaurant information on “Rakuten Gurunavi Foreign Language Edition (English, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional))”. At the same time, the Company provides effective sales promotion support products to attract new customers and promote repeat visits, such as “Display Advertisements” and “Gurunavi Online Reservation Coupons” to enhance exposure on the Rakuten Gurunavi site, and “e-DM (direct mail by e-mail)” to directly approach our user members, and offers a variety of business support products, such as “Gurunavi Ledger,” a reservation and customer management system, “Gurunavi FineOrder,” a mobile ordering service, and Marketing agency services, that support the registration, update, and operation of various promotional media including Google Business Profile and SNS in addition to the Rakuten Gurunavi site as well. In addition, the Company has human support system including sales representatives, and proposes solutions according to the management issues of each restaurant and support the introduction and utilization of our various products and services.
For these products and services, the Company receives revenues from restaurants in the form of basic membership fees, online reservation commission fees, product usage fees, etc.
(2) Promotions
In the area of promotions, the Company provides a variety of promotion services, both large and small, utilizing the network of restaurants and consumers and its database of restaurant-related information that the Company has built and accumulated, such as food-related trend surveys, product development and sales promotion support to food and beverage manufacturers, as well as promotional support related to regional revitalization to local governments.
2. Related businesses
In the related businesses, the Company operates “LIVE JAPAN PERFECT GUIDE,” a tourism information service for foreign visitors to Japan, and an e-commerce site for meal kits that recreate popular restaurant specialties at home and souvenirs selected by company secretaries. The Company also provides restaurant development business for producing the eating and drinking floors of commercial facilities, “PREMIUM GOURMET CLUB”, a paid membership service for users, and overseas business such as promotion of Japanese food overseas through Gurunavi (Shanghai), Inc.
Through the operation of these websites and provision of services, the Company receives revenues from participating businesses as information providers, commercial facility operators, local governments, and user member, etc. in the form of membership fees, consulting fees, sales commissions, and other revenues.
In addition to the above, Gurunavi Support Associe, Inc. undertakes administrative work and provides welfare services outsourced by the Company, and G dining Inc. operates directly managed restaurants as part of the above-mentioned restaurant development business.
